FIELD NOTE

Read This Before the Wrench

These dossiers explain recurring model-level project patterns. They cannot establish the condition, originality, roadworthiness or viability of the specific car in front of you.

Vehicle-Specific Authority

Exact torque values, fluids, wiring paths, timing procedures, calibration/programming steps, part fitment, recalls, campaigns and legal roadworthiness depend on the exact vehicle and current applicable authority. We do not manufacture those specifications from memory.

Safety Comes First

Structural integrity, brakes, steering, fuel systems, restraint systems, stored-energy suspension, high voltage and road testing can create serious hazards. Stop, tow, contain or refer the vehicle when the evidence or equipment does not support safe work. A model dossier is orientation, not authorization to perform a hazardous procedure.

Preserve the Evidence

Before clearing codes, disconnecting batteries, washing away leaks, dismantling systems or replacing parts, preserve the observations that may explain the fault or the project’s history. A replaced part is an action; it is not proof that the original problem is solved.
